In a new feature here at The Big Movie House, we take a look at two different blu-ray releases of the same film. In this case we are taking a look at The Quatermass Xperiment, specifically the Kino Lorber release (U.S.) from 2014 and the Shock Entertainment (Aus) from 2013. How do they stack up?

BASEketball was a flop when it was released in the summer of 1998. That should deter you from watching this film as it is very funny. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are perfect as they bring their own comedic sensibilities to the film and much of the humor comes from them.

Viking films were big in the 50's and 60's and Erik the Conqueror is Mario Bava's take on the subgenre. The film looks great, but doesn't really give us any great characters that we can relate to. The Slayer is a nice little slasher film that takes dream into account inside of it's madness. The film has a very creeping feel to it and the filmmakers are able to keep this feeling all the way until the end. The effects are really well done and kind of gross at the same time.

I am not that fond of Ronin. I was excited to see the film in the theater upon it's release in 1998. When I walked out of the theater I had mixed feelings. The film looked great, sounded great, had great actor doing great acting, and yet I found the film lackluster.

Warlock is definitely a product of the 80's (even though the film wasn't released until 1991) Lots of witchcraft going on and the effects remind us of the 80's.
