Fred Olen Ray's Retromedia has silently released (announced on Ray's Facebook the day it was released), the 1988 cult classic, The Phantom Empire.

When a man-eating cave creature appears with a fortune in uncut diamonds around his neck, Dr. Chambers' daughter Denae hires adventurers C & C Salvage to find the underground source of the gems. Accompanied by archeaological intern Andrew Paris, mineralogist Prof. Strock, and C&C's scruffy owners Cort Eastman and Eddy Colchilde, Denea's hopes of emerging from her famous father's shadow become as remote as getting out of the caves alive!

Starring Sybil Danning, Jeffrey Combs, and Russ Tamblyn, The Phantom Empire is another in a long line of B-movies that Olen Ray is known for making. Like some of the other films like Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers and Biohazard, The Phantom Empire would become a mainstay of Olen Ray fans and teenage boys alike when the film was released on VHS in summer of 1989.

Retromedia has been releasing Olen Ray's films along with films from Don Dohler, James Landis, and Steve Latshaw just to name a few. They have also been releasing 50's sci-fi and horror films as well.
