Video/Audio

JIMMY AND STIGGS was shot on 16mm and 8mm and you can tell from the first frame. This is a very film like transfer, prserving the grain. The film is very colorful, there are very few shots that aren’t bursting with color and this transfer captures those beautifully. The HDR compliments the film, bringing the colors to life. I love this transfer.

Jimmy & Stiggs: The Theatrical Experience with Trailers (1h 23m 39s, HD, 2.39:1) This is how the film was shown in theaters. I don't know why The Horror Section placed this on the blu-ray only and not the 4K, as it is how the film was seen in theaters. I would have loved to have had this on the 4K, as it is the complete presentation of the film.

All three of these commentary tracks are worth the listen. We get so much information about the film along the behind the scenes stories. There is a fair amount of overlap between the tracks but that doesnt means they are the same. I had a lot of fun with these and I think fans will too.
Working Class Horror: The Crazy Fucking Making of Jimmy & Stiggs: A 2.5 Hour Fy on the Wall Doc about Jimmy & Stiggs (2h 23m, HD, 1.78:1) This is what special features used to look like.  I loved watching this. We get to see everything from the first day of shooting to all the way to Fantastic Fest and  where the film premiered. We get to see the trials and tribulations that Begos and company had to endure to get this film made. I wish we would get more special features like this.
Splat  Chat: A Conversation with Josh Ethier & Matt Mercer (5m 6s, HD, 1.78:1) This is a mini making of where the two guys gives us a history of the film and its shoot. They cover the initial idea, shooting on 16mm, the special effects, shooting in Begos' apartment, and more.
Behind the Scenes (6m 55s, HD, 2.39:1) Entitled "The Gore Tour", this interview played after the end credits. as Begos gives us a tour of his apartment, which the entire film was shot in. Begos fucked up his apartment to make this film and we get to see it all of the mayhem he caused.
Kodak Motion Picture Film Promo (5m 16s, HD, 2.39:1) Joe Begos gives us a rundown on the hows and whys about his decision to shoot on 16mm and 8mm Kodak film. I found this absolutely fascinating and something every film student should be required to watch.
Jimmy & Stiggs Theatrical Trailer (1m 22s, HD, 2.39:1) This trailer played in front of a few films I saw in the theater and I did my best not to watch it as I wanted to go into the film as fresh as I could and it was worth it. Its a great trailer but not knowing very much about the film helped me enjoy it that much more.

Overall

JIMMY AND STIGGS was my favorite film of 2025. I saw this in the theater and it was one of my favorite theater going experiences of the year. This film is pure filmmaking. Begos fucked up his own apartment to get the film made. He spent his own money and you can tell there is a love for what they are making. The effects are great with practical effects taking up the majority of the effects. There are a few instances of various things being removed in post but those instances are few and far between. I eagerly await the next film Begos makes as I am sure it is going to be great.

The Horror Section gives Begos total control over this 4K Blu-ray and you can tell. The commentary tracks are a lot of fun and the interviews and film promos are very intersting. The big making of, clocking in at almost 2 and a half hours long is worth the price of the set alone. There are very few making ofs that are this candid and we need more of them. This set is so good, I named it my favorite release of 2025.
